Mad Catz Modern Warfare 2 wired controller

Mad Catz Modern Warfare 2 wired controller

Firstly many thanks to our friends at Mad Catz for sending us this Modern Warfare 2 themed controller.

I must start this review by saying that Microsoft does not allow any 3rd parties to make wireless controllers and this is the reason you won't find any whining from me about this fact here.

I am solely comparing this controller with the existing wired official Microsoft pads.

Right, waffle over lets get down to it recruit!

First thing I noticed on my lengthy testing process ( I completed the whole campaign using it) was the new triggers!
They look much more like real gun triggers with a larger range of motion and a slightly curved design.
What is even more awesome is the fact that they are also great on Forza 3 as they give abit more feel, rather than just on or off the gas. They are also slightly more responsive when getting your shots off, maybe being wired also helps here?????

Secondly the whole pad looks great, its a dark camo design and it looks very good. I have also seen other designs with the snow camo look and I assume they are USA models.
Anyway the one I have looks much better in the darker camo, so even better (YAY UK).

The control sticks light up as soon as you plug it in and they look uber cool, nobody can fail to be impressed with that. They are smooth and black and being honest I would have preferred it had they been abit more grippy.

Speaking of grips though, it has two kick ass grips on the side panels and they add to the overall warfare feel of things.

The d-pad feels more responsive than the standard one and the buttons are still round but a smidge flatter.

The wire itself that you plug into your box is braided nylon and has an expensive feel too it.

Last and certainly not least is the two extra buttons on the rear of the beast. These are a truly great feature as they are changeable. You can flick the little switch to have them be X,Y,A or B and of course you can set them to replicate pressing the Left and Right stick buttons!

So no more messing up your aim to quickly melee the enemy! Just press your new little buttons instead!

Like I said before, I have not put this baby down since I got it and even use it on my fave racers too.
Its quite good not having to faff about with batteries anymore.

I can't recommend this highly enough to anyone, if your a huge COD or FPS fan then it scores a trigger happy 9 out of 10.

Stay frosty out there!

Kent out....

Nice review mate. Sounds and looks a lot better than I was expecting from a 3rd party pad.

For a wired pad it is awesome, way better than the MS standard pad.

Does the chat pad fit?

i always find wired controllers a bit light and the addition of a chat pad can balance that out.

This pad has a much more manly feel too it because of the added side grips, they are abit like tyre tread.

The chatpad does not fit it though!

For long gaming sessions I use this pad all the time and love it on all fps and racers.
